The Scottish Terrier Club of Greater Washington, D.C.

The Objectives of the STCGW

  • To encourage the ownership and selective breeding of purebred Scottish Terriers.

  • To develop, to perfection, the natural high qualities of the breed as described in the standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club.

  • To foster improvement of the individual Scottish Terrier by developing, sharing and making available all information to his master toward this end.

  • To advance the interests of the breed and of the fancy and to foster sportsmanship and fellowship among its members.

  • To promote the breed through the sponsorship of sanctioned matches and specialty shows under the rules of the American Kennel Club.

In Loving Memory

Bonnie Dalbey passed away the morning of April 17, 2022, peacefully and surrounded by everyone who loved her, including her Scotties.

Bonnie made many contributions to the STCA and the STCGW but she will be dearly remembered as a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Bonnie met everyone with a generous and welcoming spirit. She was a retired special education teacher specializing in the education of children with autism. Her legacy extends to hundreds of children. We will forever miss Bonnie’s kindness and sweet soul. May she rest in peace.

Scotties are different than many dogs – which is one reason you will find their owners so attached. They are independent and strong willed, sometimes aloof and certainly intelligent. At the same time, they are sensitive and can be very attached to their owners.
